MY STORY

My passion for the game of soccer started at the age of 5 with a dream of one day playing for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team. I never imagined a journey like this, but I made a decision to dedicate my entire life and sacrifice all that I needed in order to reach the top. My journey has had many ups and downs, but throughout every obstacle in my career, my relentless pursuit to be BETTER.EVERY.DAY has helped me continiously elevate my game no matter what the circumstances are or how great the pressure is...

CL10 SOCCER CLINICS

Improve your game with the CL10 Soccer Clinic, a program I have designed to help players enhance their skills on the field & give some insight into the important core values needed to succeed in sport and life!

All of the skills and techniques will be demonstrated by me during the clinic. I will be hands-on in helping you practice these skills throughout the session from start to finish.

Practicing on your own and getting as many repetitions of the correct technique while touching on important core values needed in life will help you to become a better player and person.

No matter what your reason is for visiting my page, my goal is to make one thing clear: if you have a dream, then your dream is attainable through hard work, sacrifice, and dedication.

It just takes the right mindset and giving 100 percent of yourself every day to achieving your goal. It might not be easy, and it might not happen right away, but this is what it takes to make your dream a reality.

I have met a lot of successful people throughout my journey and I have realized one common thread between all of us - You have to outwork EVERYONE. There will come times where you have moments of doubt, failure, and defeat, but you can never let those moments define you. At no point should doubt, failure or defeat stop you or hold you back. You need to use that as fuel to learn, grow and BE BETTER EVERY DAY! Your willpower to achieve and prevail is enough to accomplish those things which, at first, may seem out of reach, but possible!

I learned that life is all about the choices we make. I chose to be 100% in 100% of the time, which led me to play with the United States Women’s National Soccer Team, win two FIFA World Cups, become a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist during the Summer Olympic Games, and win the FIFA Player of the year for two consecutive years, to name only a few.

I never switch off. I always find a way to break barriers by turning my weaknesses into strengths, embracing being uncomfortable, competing against myself and being better everyday. Being hungry for more is what it takes to achieve your dreams, and your passion is what gives you a deeper purpose to keep climbing and put all of your energy towards achieving your goals.

If you can learn how to harness these motivators, always seeking a challenge and uncovering a passion to drive you, you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish. I can promise that you will never have to force yourself to do anything if you adopt this mindset; you will overcome those barriers because you have an inner drive to push you forward. Your profound desire to achieve more will feed your passion every single day.

How does this former women's World Cup star scratch her competitive itch these days? Plenty of golf

While Lloyd has been retired from professional soccer for over two years, her competitive nature and desire to improve have not diminished. In 2023, she was featured on the inaugural season of Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” in which 16 recruits were thrust into rigorous training exercises meant to mimic those of the U.S. Special Forces. Lloyd won the challenge, beating out athletes like former NBA star Dwight Howard and former NFL wide receiver Danny Amendola.

While training for golf isn’t exactly the same as training for the special forces, it still comes with its challenges, she said.

Lloyd: USWNT needed England's mentality to progress at WWC

"I don't walk back on anything I said," Lloyd said. "I speak from experience, being part of the team, I played with a lot of those players, played under Vlatko [Andonovski], was still very much a part of that cycle. I unfortunately saw the trajectory of where the team was heading. Unfortunately it was not a good performance, and what I said was exactly how I felt and came from the heart."

Lloyd added that USWNT wasn't fit enough at the recent World Cup and compared the team's efforts to those of England, which reached the final for the first time in its history.

"We have all the resources poured in, we have the talent pool, we have the support, we have the experience, and so there's all this narrative of 'the world has caught up,' but in my opinion the team wasn't fit enough, the team didn't show that mentality that is needed to win like you're seeing with England," Lloyd said.

Carli Lloyd on her criticism of the USWNT: ‘I simply didn’t like what I saw’

“This wasn’t anything that was scripted,” Lloyd told The Athletic Tuesday morning over the phone from Australia. “This was a reaction to what I was seeing, what I was feeling, what came from my heart. I poured my heart and soul into this team for 17 years. I came into (the USWNT) not understanding how hard you have to work and learned how hard from the players that had come before me who instilled that mentality and DNA within the team. If I was going to stay on the main team, I had to work hard every single day. It’s probably one of the most unhealthy environments someone could place themselves in but one of the most rewarding as well, and I would do it over again in a heartbeat.
